SAM Program Client Bill Of Rights

The Seniors Activation Maintenance (SAM) Program will assist seniors and other adults with diminished abilities to maintain their maximum level of activation and cognitive stimulation in an atmosphere of friendliness and caring.

Each SAM Client Has The Right To

  • Be treated with dignity and respect by all who serve them at the SAM Program
  • Have at least one visit to their SAM site each week or as agreed upon and scheduled
  • Be billed in writing monthly, for charges relating to their enrolment at the SAM Program
  • Be provided with refreshments and a nutritious noon meal
  • Be provided with activities which are planned by qualified staff and supervised by trained staff at each site
  • Be able to participate at his/her own level of ability
  • To have counselling and guidance by professional staff
  • Provide feedback to staff about services which will be reflected in the Daily Activity Audit and Evaluation Process
  • Be able to formally complain about service without fear of reprisal
  • Have their confidentiality respected
  • Participate in the preparation of their Individual Program Plan
  • Be informed in a timely manner of any changes to their service at the SAM Program

The SAM Program Has The Right To Limit Service For Clients

  • Who are unable or unwilling to participate
  • Who are at risk or pose a risk to other SAM clients, staff or volunteers
  • Who are non-compliant about payment or attendance
  • Who are unwilling to comply with the terms of the SAM Admission Agreement
